The construction project of Crowne Plaza Labuan Bajo has officially been completed and the modern luxury hotel’s grand opening was successfully held on 20 October 2025. Strategically located along the pristine coastline of Pantai Pede, the hotel offers 148 luxury rooms and suites with direct views of the Flores Sea, making it a premium international-standard hotel that is a part of the iconic landscape of East Indonesia’s leading tourism destination.
Design in Harmony with Nature
The design of Crowne Plaza Labuan Bajo was led by renowned architecture and interior design firm Hadiprana Architects. The hotel’s interior embraces a contemporary tropical concept, blending modern design with the cultural nuances of Flores. Warm color tones, natural wood materials, and local elements such as traditional woven fabrics and carvings from East Nusa Tenggara are elegantly combined with a modern international aesthetic.
The work of turning this piece of design into a luxury hotel was then entrusted to PT Tatamulia Nusantara Indah, a leading national contractor with a strong track record in developing large-scale, high-standard hospitality projects across Indonesia.
Enhancing Guest Experience from Door Hardware Perspectives
Eventually to enhance both luxury and functionality, all interior and architectural doors throughout the hotel are provided by Calfis, a trusted door hardware brand in the interior and architectural door industry. Building a premium hospitality project run by a renowned international hotel chain comes with its own unique challenges in terms of safety, design, operations and experience.
Firstly, all guestroom doors must have proper sound insulation to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience in their room. Secondly, door hardware needs to blend seamlessly with the room interiors by utilizing custom finishing, while at the same time be technically capable of managing heavy ballroom and meeting room doors with 3,000 mm height. Lastly, masterkeying systems must be employed strictly according to the exact operator’s requirements to ensure their staff can perform efficient operations.
To fulfill these requirements, Calfis successfully implements the following solutions at the project:
- Complete sealing systems with automatic door bottom and perimeter seals at guestroom doors to achieve the required acoustic rating
- Satin black door hardware at all interior and exterior doors
- Heavy duty concealed hinges and floor hinges to handle the added weight of ballroom and meeting room doors
- Preparation of masterkey diagram and production of masterkeys up to great grand master key level in accordance with the operator’s requirements
